Since 1990 the conformity assessment activity has been strongly considered as one of the main tools to avoid technical barriers to trade and, consequently, to promote market access. It is also important to fortify the national industry and the internal market, promoting health and safety consumers’ protection as well as the environment.
In Brazil, the demand for conformity assessment programs development increases not only in numbers but also in complexity. The technical requirements focus used to be the products intrinsic quality. However, nowadays sustainability issues related to the productive process have also been incorporated.
